Yes. Most group health plans allow adding dependants — spouse, up to 2 children, and in some plans, parents — as add-ons at an incremental premium. Coverage typically ceases on the date of resignation/termination. However, most insurers offer a portability option — the departing employee can convert their group health cover to an individual policy without re-underwriting or waiting periods, within 30–60 days.
